The Charkha Chair is inspired from Gandhi Ji’s ‘swadeshi movement’ which started in 1905. To give a contemporary look to the rocking chair we chose to dye the ‘khadi’ upholstery indigo and painted the pine wood black. The rockers of the chair have similar spokes as a Charkha. The chair shows symmetry and contrast. There is a softness in the look of the chair. When someone looks at it, he can feel the comfort provided by the chair.
